Mission The mission of the GLAC is provide support for our membership in the political arena that affect the professional development of paramedics in the critical care environment and to assure that we positively impact the safety and patient care in the critical care environment. We are working for today’s Paramedics to change tomorrow’s future.
Vision The vision of the GLAC is to help establish the future of EMS through the Paramedics of today. The GLAC is establishing grass roots to combat the segregation of EMS at the State and Federal level. We plan to assist State Delegates with political support to create an expanded scope of practice that will support continuity of care throughout the U.S. The GLAC plans to help establish continuity of care through an expanded scope of practice. We believe that education combined with professional licensure will help provide the foundation for EMS and Critical Care of the Future.
History The GLAC was a concept that was brought forward by Jim Reeves who had a vision that would help elevate the IAFP as an organization to a new level for the future. In 2003 the GLAC concept was developed and in 2005 the program was brought to life through the forward drive of new Board members with a similar vision. By-laws were drafted and the Board of Directors ratified the concept of the Government and Legislative Affairs Committee in 2005.
